Wedding To Do List

Use this prioritised ‘Wedding To Do’ List to give you an outline plan of what to book and when to book it, for your Glasgow Wedding.

Remember though, you do not have to do everything by yourself, enlist the help of family and friends who would be only too willing to help you plan for your special Wedding Day! Do have a look on our BLOG too for some advice from Real Life Brides!

As soon as possible you should…

  • Decide on the type of Wedding, budget and approximate number of guests
  • Arrange the date
  • Arrange Wedding with clergyman if ceremony is to be religious
  • Engage a Wedding Planner if required
  • Book a Glasgow Wedding Venue
  • Choose bridesmaids, groomsmen, flower girls and page boys

12-9 months to go…

  • Book Wedding photographer
  • Book Wedding videographer
  • Order Wedding cars
  • Book a Band/DJ for reception
  • Order your Wedding Gown

9-6 months to go…

  • Order dresses for bridesmaids and flowers girls
  • Order men’s formal wear
  • Order Wedding cake
  • Book a Florist
  • Take out Wedding insurance
  • Book Toastmaster or Master of Ceremonies if Venue does not provide one (if required)
  • Make up a guest list

6-4 months to go…

  • Order invitations and stationery
  • Visit Wedding Venue again and decide on decor and catering arrangements
  • Book any other reception items e.g. candy buffet, chocolate fountain, balloons, fireworks
  • Choose a honeymoon
  • Select music and book singer and musicians for Ceremony
  • Book Bagpiper if required
  • Select head-dress, shoes, jewellery and lingerie for Bride and bridesmaids
  • Arrange a Gift Registry

4-2 months to go…

  • Address Wedding invitations
  • Buy Wedding rings
  • Order button hole flowers from Florist
  • Order guests’ favours
  • Buy attendants’ gifts
  • Buy cake boxes so pieces of Wedding cake can be boxed for those unable to attend
  • Arrange dancing classes (if required)
  • Arrange trials with Beautician and Hairdresser

2 months to go…

  • Send out invitations
  • Get Marriage Licence
  • Choose readings/prayers for Ceremony and readers
  • Select altar servers if required
  • Design an Order of Service for Ceremony
  • Arrange transportation for guests
  • Arrange accommodation for guests
  • Arrange babysitting services for guests with children if required
  • Arrange final fitting of your gown
  • Choose first dance and confirm Band can play it
  • Check passports
  • Check items affected by your new surname

1 month to go…

  • Prepare seating plans
  • Record Wedding gifts and write thank-you letters – but do not send out until after Wedding
  • Check all dress wear for Bridal party
  • Give Photographer a list of who’s who in Bridal Party and of specific shots you wish to have taken
  • Choose music to overlay on Wedding video and confirm with videographer
  • Confirm rehearsal time for Ceremony
  • Review seating plans and prepare place and namecards
  • Check Groom, Best Man, Father of Bride have prepared speeches and know running order on day
  • Arrange for flowers to be given to Mother of Bride and Mother of Groom at reception as a special thank you
  • Arrange change of name on accounts etc…
  • Hold stag/hen party

2 weeks to go…

  • Confirm all arrangements with all Suppliers!
  • Give final numbers to Wedding Venue

1 week to go…

  • Prepare envelopes for those Suppliers requiring payment on the day of Wedding and entrust them to one individual e.g. Groomsman
  • Pack cases for honeymoon and arrange their safekeeping
  • Check all travel documents for honeymoon and arrange their safekeeping
  • Book transportation from hotel to airport or alternative
  • Get nails, waxing and tan done
  • Try to have at least one night in this last week on your own with your Groom to be
  • Drink lots of water and sleep
