REAL LIFE WEDDING STORIES

My name is Nicola and I’m a features writer for the national newspapers and women’s magazines, including the Daily Mail, Take a Break, Bella, Best and Woman.

I am currently looking for UK-based women aged between 18 and 50 who have real-life Wedding stories to share.

You could earn up to £3,000, depending on the story, as a reward for your contribution.

Ideas include:

(1) Wedding day surgery to give you the confidence you need for your big day;

(2) shortest Wedding ever after splitting up in days/weeks/months;

(3) left at the Altar (or around the time of your Wedding) and how you overcame this;

(4) survived an affair;

(5) beaten the odds to get married

(6) weird and wacky Weddings/ costume Weddings/ extremely unique proposals

If this is something you might be interested in, please find more about my company and its ethos at www.medavia.co.uk.

All story ideas are welcome and should be sent to nicola@medavia.co.uk. Pictures will be needed to illustrate the story.

Warmest regards, Nicola.

HEN NIGHTS

I'm working on a feature for a glossy magazine about hen nights. I'm looking for people aged 30-55 who are having their hen night this year. It doesn't matter whether you have actually had it, or are having it later in the summer.

Perhaps you are planning a traditional hen night in a club, perhaps you are going to a spa, or dinner in a lovely restaurant. I'm particularly looking for someone who is having their mum and ideally their grandma there.

We will ask Bride-to-be and hens to get together for a lovely photoshoot - the Bride will get to keep the pictures. The interview will talk about how important their friends are to them, so it will be a lovely memento too.

If you know of anyone who might be interested, please email judyyorke@montimedia.co.uk

IF IT'S LEGAL AND YOU'RE IN LOVE ANYTHING GOES AT CHANNEL 4'S WEDDING HOUSE

Channel 4 is going to take the hassle out of getting hitched by opening a one-stop Wedding shop for couples looking to get married. Wedding House (working title) invites anyone who wants to go down the aisle in style to take part in a very special venture.

Unlike the average wedding, which now costs around 20k, couples at Wedding House will have all the stress and worry of the big day removed from their shoulders as a stylist, planner and team of Wedding experts use their creativity, resourcefulness and amazing skills to make their dreams come true.

In Wedding House all the excitement and variety of a Las Vegas chapel will be brought to Britain. Each couple will have a legally binding civil ceremony or partnership, and can share their special day with family and guests...and the viewing nation. Whether you're a teenager or a pensioner, want a themed ceremony or a whacky Wedding, desire a civil partnership or want to re-new your vows the sky really is the limit at the Wedding House .

This is a bold project which aims to reflect what many people are seeking to do in real life which is to focus on the marriage rather than the months of Wedding organising. It promises to be a very fresh approach to a popular subject and a true celebration of contemporary love and relationship.

The finished series will air on Channel 4 later this year.

Anyone interested in applying should e-mail weddings@betty.co.uk or call 0207 290 0661. Glasgow is one of 3 UK cities where auditions are being held at the end of March so get your forms filled in to be invited to audition!!!!

COPYCAT BRIDES

For a leading bridal magazine, I am working on a feature about copycat brides and looking for anecdotes (anonymity can be guaranteed!) from brides/grooms who have had to deal with things like another friend announcing she's marrying the same week as you, or in the same venue with the same band and decor, or buying the same dress, or having the exact same readings or first dance or ring, or copying your invites etc - so not just friendly borrowing of a nice idea but getting a bit OTT with the copycat behaviour!

Especially if you had similar guest lists or she ended up having her wedding first and then you fear looking like you copied her!

Or maybe you borrowed from a friend's wedding but stole in style and added your own twists to keep things unique?

I'd be hugely grateful if you could email me at
Olivia@oliviagordon.com asap before Monday 1 March if you can comment on any of the above!

Tonight's The Night is the show that makes dreams come true for those who most deserve it.  Presented by John Barrowman, we want to surprise special people with the experience of a lifetime.  This year, we want to extend this star treatment to Wedding parties, by giving Brides, Grooms and Wedding guests the chance to deliver a Wedding present money can't buy.

We are offering people the opportunity to surprise their spouse or Wedding party or even the newlyweds with a fully choreographed dance performance at their Wedding reception.

We're looking for special Weddings and special couples. Whether it is a Bride and Groom who want to surprise their guests, or the bridesmaids and ushers who want to surprise the newlyweds, or even the Wedding guests who want to put on a performance for the happy couple, we can make it happen.

If anyone is, or knows a special couple who are Dirty Dancing devotees, ballroom dancing buffs, street dance supremos or disco dancing divas then we'd love them to get in touch, as we could help to deliver the surprise of a lifetime.

I hope you can let me know if this is something you are able to help us with. If you have any queries or wish to find out more then you can contact me direct on 0208 225 8391.
